Safeguarding through a Trauma-Informed Lens

Safeguarding through a ‘trauma-informed’ lens

This is ideal for any staff within an educational setting who are responsible for or support safeguarding – for example Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), Pastoral Leads, Heads of Year, Heads of School.

We’ll look at defining Trauma and ACES Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the significance of these when it comes to safeguarding.

We’ll also take an in-depth look at trauma informed safeguarding practice – focusing in detail on utilising mitigating factors such as key relationships, sense of belonging, community support and information sharing. We’ll consider a case study together, with opportunities to discuss strategies and approaches.
