Coronavirus – School Closure

Dear Family and Carers,

During these extremely difficult and worrying times for everyone, we have been continually receiving COVID-19 guidance from Government,  Public Health England, and the Department for Education. As you know we have been committed to keeping open our schools, but most importantly the priority is keeping students, staff, families and communities safe.

Following guidance over the weekend regarding special schools like ours, it is clear that many students, even those with an ECHP and classed as potentially vulnerable, are still going to be safer in their homes than in school.  The information and guidance from Government regarding social distancing and isolation for those most at risk has today resulted in over half our students staying away from school, and we also have a reduction in staff.

This is not an easy decision , but following a full risk assessment of our current situation and the needs of our students – the decision has been made to close our school buildings from 3.30pm today – 23rd March to all students and move to Phase 2 of our plan, which will see Students being able to access remote e-learning and care at home via Class DOJO. They will have resources and activities set, combined with a daily video check-in from teachers, and contact from our family practitioners.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN INTO SCHOOL FROM TOMORROW (TUESDAY 24TH MARCH) AND ONGOING AS OUR BUILDINGS WILL BE CLOSED AND NO STAFF ON SITE.

More information on education resources and activities will be made available soon on Class DOJO.

The Directors and Leadership team at Life Chance and School for Inspiring Talents are continually monitoring the situation and looking at advice and guidance to ensure safety and health comes first for students, families and staff. We are still committed to providing the best Education and Therapeutic services and will endeavour to do this as best we can, in these unprecedented times.

We will also keep you updated via, Class Dojo, Text Message to your mobiles, updates on our websites www.sfit.org.uk .  We will also have a voice mail service where you can leave a message on the main number  01626 244 086, and one of our team will get back to you as soon as they are able.

We will be in contact about when we hope to re-open our school buildings, at the earliest convenience and when it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding, and we hope you all stay safe and well.

Yours Sincerely,

Pete Jenkins
