20 Jul School for Inspiring Talents announced as Finalists in National Pastoral Awards.

School for Inspiring Talents has been shortlisted in the 2021 National Association of Pastoral Care in Education Awards in the ‘Pastoral School of the Year’ category. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in September.

The Awards was launched by NAPCE in 2019 to shine a light on excellent practice in pastoral care and to celebrate the people making a real difference in the educational experience of young people. School for Inspiring Talents was recognised with four other schools from across the UK for demonstrating a commitment to pastoral care and support for learners that makes a real difference to students’ progress and personal development.

This is a significant achievement for our relatively new school and celebrates our commitment and passion for supporting our students’ wellbeing.

Executive Principal, Pete Jenkins said: “It is wonderful for our school community to receive this national recognition. I am proud that the dedication of our staff combined with our innovative therapeutic approach to education is making a positive and significant impact on young lives. Thank you to the National Association of Pastoral Care in Education for this special acknowledgement.”

The standard of entry was extremely high this year once again, according to NAPCE Chair Phil jones, who sits on the Judging Panel. Mr Jones said: “Once again we received a large range of fantastic entries for the National Awards for Pastoral Care In Education and the event is continuing to build spectacularly.”

Natalie Rafferty, Pastoral Coordinator at School for Inspiring Talents in Newton Abbot, added: “It’s incredibly important for students to feel safe and secure with our dedicated team so that they want to come to school each day. We are privileged to see enormous progress with the children – seeing their confidence and self-worth flourish is incredibly rewarding for staff. I am very proud of our school and am delighted that our special school has received this national praise. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the awards ceremony in September!”
