For the Attention of Families and Carers.

I want to take this opportunity to communicate how School for Inspiring Talents plan to continue to provide care and education in the coming weeks following the announcement by Gavin Williamson that Special Schools that support vulnerable children and those with an ECHP remain open yesterday.

For some time the school team has been planning how this can be done, both face-to-face and online as you will have seen from our previous emails to you.

  • We currently are planning for the school to remain open up until the Easter holidays, with the final day being Friday 27th March.
  • Please note that for students on the Torquay site, the last day of term will be -Wednesday 25th March, to allow for moving the school to the College House site. Further information will be sent to Parents and Carers with Students in Torquay.
  • Heads of School have been in contact with you today to determine whether you will be keeping your child home to isolate from the virus. Thank you for this information as this has helped us plan cover for next week.

This plan for next week is based on current staffing ratios being maintained, and for Devon and Torbay transport to be in place. Should more staff become ill, self-isolate or have to care for their children, we will have to move to online learning and emotional support which is ready to be implemented if needed.

In order to support the national effort in maintaining front line services, the school will remain open over the Easter holidays to care for the children of keyworkers ( as defined by government). This will be a centralised offer at our College House site in Newton Abbot.  Please advise us immediately if you fall into this category on 01626 244 086

Our multi-disciplinary team and family practitioners will coordinate contact with students and families during the Easter Break and provide ongoing support to ensure we are delivering our core values of Care.

We have also made food provision for our vulnerable families and have been in regular contact with local food bank charities who are also able to deliver to families if they are self-isolating. If you want to find out more about this service and if you can qualify please again call us on 01626 244 086.

After the Easter holidays we plan to resume face-to-face education, but as you will appreciate these plans may change.  We will endeavour to keep you well informed via text communication and via Class Dojo of any decisions that are needed to be made and are fully committed to supporting your Children in these unprecedented times.

Kind regards,

Pete Jenkins, Executive Principal
